Tems made the announcement after her successful Coachella performance, where she debuted the song during the festival’s first weekend. The audience quickly embraced the catchy chorus, “Love me jeje, love me tender,” creating a buzz that has since fueled significant excitement among fans.

“Love Me Jeje” marks the first single released since the Nigerian singer-songwriter-producer announced that her debut album, Born in the World, will drop in May. Last year, she released two singles, “Me & U” and “Not an Angel,” both of which hit No. 3 on Billboard’s U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart. Tems performed “Not an Angel” for the first time at the Billboard Women in Music event in March. In addition, she also received the Breakthrough Award from Savannah James.

Her upcoming new single is a nod to the classic “Love Me Jeje” by Seyi Sodimu, which was released in 1997 and featured Shafy Bello.
