Davido officially announces his highly anticipated fifth studio album, “5IVE,” set for release in early 2025. This announcement marks a significant moment for Davido’s continued evolution as an artist. Building on the success of his previous album, “Timeless,” which features hits like “Unavailable” and receives critical acclaim, Davido moves forward with another exciting project.
On December 5, 2024, Davido took to social media to unveil the album title and share details about its thematic essence. He described “5IVE” as a deeply personal project that reflects his journey, truth, and growth as an artist. In his post, he thanked his supporters, saying, “Thank you for riding with me. Let’s make history again!”
To kick off the promotional campaign for the album, Davido released a new single titled “Funds,” featuring fellow artists Chike and Odumodublvck. This track dropped at midnight on December 6, 2024, and serves as the second single from the upcoming album, following “Awuke,” which features YG Marley.
“Funds” showcases a blend of Afrobeats with R&B and pop influences, sampling Brenda Fassie’s classic “Vuli Ndlela.” He noted that collaborating with Odumodublvck and Chike brought a unique energy to the track.
Fans can also look forward to additional collaborations on “5IVE.” These include a much-anticipated track with Nigerian superstar Omah Lay. He has described their partnership as a “perfect collaboration.”
